France is the most attractive country in Europe for the 4th year in a row!

The 2022 Annual Report on Foreign Investment in France published by Business France, on the 11th of May 2023, reveals that 1,725 international investment projects have landed in France and created or maintained 58,810 jobs in 2022. While the number of job-creating investment projects recorded increased by 7% compared to 2021, the increase in the number of jobs created or maintained is historic, up by 31%. These figures confirm that investors still have confidence in France and prove the attractiveness of France as an investment location.

Additionally, a record number of jobs has been generated by Nordic investors – in 15 years. These represent 97 investment projects which have created 2,263 jobs. Among the Nordic countries, Sweden is the largest employer in France, creating 955 jobs in 2022. An important driver is IKEA, which contributed with the creation of 373 jobs. More broadly, when it comes to Swedish companies, there are over 400 subsidies present in France today, employing around 95,000 people. They are led by groups such as IKEA, Volvo, Securitas and H&M.

In line with the EY Barometer of France’s attractiveness in 2022, which was also published on the 11th of May, it has been reported that France is at the top of the podium for international investment project in Europe for the fourth year in a row. Sweden ranks second in terms of Nordic investments in France, with 35 projects in 2022. But for Sweden, France remains the first European host country for investments.
